geography
The Demmerkogel is located in the Sankt Andrä-Höch wine-growing community in the Leibnitz district . It rises east of the village of Höch. The Sausal Wine and Culture Cellar (SWK) is also located here. The butterfly meadow on the southwest flank of the mountain is designated as a nature reserve.
Lookout point
The observation tower on the Demmerkogel is already the third tower on the summit and was built in 1975/76 as a wooden tower on a brick base. The first control room stood here as early as the late 19th century, but it was destroyed by lightning. A second control room, opened in 1926, was demolished in 1974 because it was dilapidated.
From the observation tower you can see over large parts of southern Styria and on clear days even as far as Slovenia .
The observation tower fell victim to a fire early in the morning on October 27, 2019. The transmission system for the fire brigades was destroyed by the fire.
Klapotetz
On the Demmerkogel there is a folding net , which, at 16 meters high, was considered the largest in the world until 2010.
