Austro Engine is an Austrian manufacturer of aircraft engines . The company headquarters is in the Lower Austrian city ​​of Wiener Neustadt .

history

On October 22, 2007, the foundation stone was laid for the aircraft engine plant founded by Diamond Aircraft and a management company. The company has invested 13 million euros in the production facility to produce reciprocating and rotary piston engines . Austro Engine was founded when, following the bankruptcy of Thielert (the pioneer in the field of diesel aircraft engines), the further availability of the engines was unclear. Austro Engine has meanwhile developed into a key Austrian company in the engine sector. Austro Engine has already succeeded in developing a modern diesel engine that has been approved by both EASA and FAA, and thus attacking the market leader Lycoming .

The AE 500 monoblock engine
AE300 (also Austro Engine E4 )
A four-cylinder -Hubkolbendieselmotor with common rail -Hochdruckdirekteinspritzung and turbocharging with a displacement of 1991  cc for use with Jet A1 - fuel . Operation with diesel fuel is possible. The continuous output is given as 123.5 kW. The approval by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) took place on January 28th, 2009. The approval by the American aviation authority FAA took place on July 29th, 2009. The AE300 is installed in various aircraft of Diamond Aircraft Industries.
AE50R
A Wankel engine with 250 cm³, an output of 40 kW (55 HP) and a weight of 27.8 kg. The AE50R is used in the Schleicher ASH 26 , the Schleicher ASW 22 , the Schleicher ASK 21 , the Schleicher ASH 30 , the Schleicher ASH 31 , the Schleicher ASG 32 , and in the Camcopter S-100 .
AE75R
A further development of the AE50R in the development phase.
AE500
The AE500 has been developed since 2011 on the basis of the monoblock engine from the Austrian company Steyr Motors . The 6-cylinder with 206 kW (280 PS) will be used in the Diamond DA50, among others .
AE80R
A new development with a weight of 27 kg and an output of 80 PS (58 kW) as a drive for unmanned aircraft .
