Ampelographic varietal characteristics
In ampelography , the habitus is described as follows:
- The shoot tip is open. It is hairy white, with a slight pink tinge. The young leaves are almost hairless and greenish-bronze in color.
- The medium-sized leaves are five-lobed and deeply indented (see also the article leaf shape ). The stalk bay is closed like a lyre. The blade is bluntly serrated. The teeth are medium-sized compared to the grape varieties.
- The conical grape is medium-sized and has dense berries. The round berries are medium-sized and black-bluish-purple in color.
The grape variety ripens approx. 30 days after the Gutedel and belongs to the grape varieties of the middle third ripening period (see the chapter in the article grape variety). It is therefore considered to ripen late.
Avarengo is a variety of the noble grapevine ( Vitis vinifera ). It has hermaphroditic flowers and is therefore self-fruiting. In viticulture , the economic disadvantage of not having to grow male plants that produce yield is avoided.
