geography
Avon is located in southeast Alabama in the southern United States. The place is approximately 18 kilometers from the southern Florida border and 15 kilometers from the eastern Georgia border.
Nearby places include Cowarts (immediately to the northwest), Ashford (<1 km east), Webb (3 km north) and Dothan (3 km west).
history
Avon was first settled in the mid-19th century. The first church was built around 1875. The economy has always been characterized by agriculture.

Avon is crossed by US Highway 84 to the north . Alabama State Route 1 as well as US Highway 231 and US Highway 431 run a few kilometers west of the city .
Dothan Regional Airport is located about 18 kilometers northwest of the city .
