The Avonturenpark Hellendoorn (or Adventure Park Hellendoorn ) is a combined amusement park with a water slide park , which is located in the Dutch province of Overijssel , just outside the village of Hellendoorn , around 50 km from the German-Dutch border near Gronau in Westphalia .
history
The history of the park began in 1936 when the founder Van den Berg first built and opened a tea room with a terrace. In order to attract more visitors, playgrounds and a restaurant were gradually added. In 1947 a labyrinth was built and in 1956 a fairy tale garden was built. In the seventies, other major attractions were added, such as the monorail, a sea lion show, the crooked house "Casa Magnetica" and the raft trip "Jungle Monster". In 1978 the park was renamed "Avonturenpark Hellendoorn".
In 2001 the park was sold to the French amusement park chain Grévin & Cie . In the 2011 season, the Avonturenpark Hellendoorn celebrated its 75th birthday. In February 2011 the park announced on its own website that the Grévin & Cie parent company “ Compagnie des Alpes (CdA) ” had sold seven amusement parks, including the Avonturenpark Hellendoorn, to another amusement park chain called the Looping Group . The Looping Group was founded in January 2011 and is now represented with various parks in several European countries. In Germany, she has been running the Fort Fun Adventure Land amusement park in the Sauerland since the 2017 season .

Water slide park
Since 2013, the Avonturenpark Hellendoorn has offered the “Aquaventura Slidepark” on an area of over 5000 m², a park-owned water slide park outside. It is the first outdoor water slide park in the Netherlands that is located in an amusement park. This is not a swimming pool, rather eleven different water slides of different lengths are offered, all of which have their own water basin so that the lanes can slide completely. The park has a water playground for small children. A visit to the Aquaventura Slide Park can only be done in combination with a visit to the Avonturenpark Hellendoorn. A special combination ticket must be purchased at the main entrance for this.
