criticism
The album received mixed reviews. Kevin Chamberlin of Jesus Freak Hideout writes that the album does not do justice to its predecessor Comatose and gave it 3 out of 5 stars. He also criticizes the many ballads on the album. The Alternative Addiction website writes, "Awake is the perfect sequel to Comatose, and while it lacks the" wow "effect that its predecessor had, it's just as musically satisfying."
