Axel Buchholz (journalist)

Axel Buchholz (* 1939 in Berlin ) is a German journalist and media scientist .

First he worked for the Spandauer Volksblatt and the Sender Free Berlin (SFB). He then went to the Saarländischer Rundfunk (SR) and worked there as a reporter, presenter, editor and wave chief of SR 1 Europawelle on radio . Until 2002 he was chief radio editor and deputy radio director.

As a lecturer in practical journalism , he has been teaching at universities, journalism schools and as an editorial trainer since 1972. Axel Buchholz has been honorary professor at the Journalism Seminar at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz since 2002 and also teaches at Trier University , the German School of Journalism and the Institute for the Promotion of Young Journalists .

As an expert in practical journalism, he has authored numerous publications, including the standard works on journalism training “Radio Journalism” (together with Walther von La Roche ) and “Television Journalism”.

Buchholz was or is a juror at well-known award ceremonies in the media industry, such as the Axel Springer Prize for young journalists , the Journalist of the Year from Medium Magazin , the Pater Wolfgang Seibel Prize for young journalists from the Institute for the Promotion of Young Journalists and in the jury for the youth reporter competition of the Saarbrücker Zeitung .
