Axel Fuchs (born October 18, 1967 in Jülich ) is a German local politician and has been a non-party mayor of Jülich in the Düren district , North Rhine-Westphalia, since 2015 .

Fuchs emerged victorious from a runoff election on September 27, 2015 with 63.01% of the vote. The swearing-in took place on October 21, 2015.

Professional background

In 1988, Axel Fuchs, the son of a tax officer and a saleswoman, began his training as a tax assistant with an auditor in Düren . After the final apprenticeship examination, he moved to Düren tax office in 1991 . After the examination, Fuchs was transferred to the tax office in Cologne in 1993 . There he also became a member of the staff council . From 1998 he worked in the tax investigation department , where he was involved in uncovering so-called Luxembourg cases.

From 2001 to 2004, Fuchs studied at the University of Applied Sciences for Finance in Nordkirchen . He completed his studies with a degree in finance and then worked in the upper level service of financial administration. A full member of the staff council since 2008, he was chairman of this body at the Düren tax office from 2012 to 2015.

Axel Fuchs has been the full-time mayor of Jülich, the second largest city in the Düren district, since October 21, 2015. As a result, he also became the managing director of Brückenkopf-Park gGmbH, which became the subject of controversy.

Private

Fuchs was the singer of one of the most famous and first ska bands in Germany, The Blue Beat . He was successful with Blue Beat for many years in Germany and Europe. In 1986 Fuchs began to get involved in the carnival and founded the CCKG (Café Cholera Carnival Society) with a few friends.

In 1998, Fuchs married. He has two children and lives in Jülich.
