Axel Homburg

Axel Homburg (born July 5, 1936 in Hanover ; † October 5, 2018 in Bad Kissingen ) was a German industrial manager.

Life

After graduating from high school in Wiesbaden, Homburg studied mechanical engineering at the TH Darmstadt . He received his doctorate in the field of aircraft engines and joined Dynamit Nobel AG in 1969 .

There he held various leading positions and was appointed to the board of Dynamit Nobel AG in 1984. From 1987 until his retirement in 1997 he was the company's CEO.

Since 1984 he has been chairman of the board of trustees of the Fraunhofer Institute for Chemical Technology (ICT) in Pfinztal-Berghausen and initiated the conceptual realignment of the Fraunhofer ICT. He was a member of the supervisory board of CeramTec in Plochingen and of Menzolit Fibron in Bretten.

He died in a plane crash with his HK36 R Super Dimona motor glider when approaching Bad Kissingen airfield .
