Axel Kromer (born January 10, 1977 in Ludwigsburg ) is a former German handball player who was active in the Bundesliga and 2nd Bundesliga . He also worked as a handball coach.

Career

Kromer played from 1996 to 1999 for TV Kornwestheim , for which he appeared in the 2nd Bundesliga and in the Regionalliga . The runner was under contract with the second division VfL Pfullingen from 2000 , with whom he was promoted to the Bundesliga two years later . In 2006 he left Pfullingen and started playing for the regional division TSG Söflingen in 2007. After Kromer ended his career in 2009, he helped out from November 2011 at the regional division Spvgg Mössingen.

From 2001, Kromer worked as a selection trainer for the handball association Württemberg , where he has been a regional trainer since 2009. Also in 2009 he took over the coaching position of the regional league team SG H2Ku Herrenberg . Under his leadership, the team rose to the 2nd Bundesliga in 2010. In 2012 he ended this activity and switched to the DHB , where he has been assistant coach of the junior national team since 2012. Two years later he also took over as assistant coach for the German national team . In July 2015, Kromer ended his work at the handball association Württemberg and took over the post of full-time junior coordinator at the DHB. On January 31, 2016, he became European champion as an assistant coach with the German national team . In spring 2017, he ended his coaching activities at DHB. Kromer has been sports director at DHB since December 1, 2017.
