Axel Schaumann (born July 4, 1961 in Stuttgart ) is a former German hurdler who specialized in the 110-meter distance .

Career

Schaumann comes from a family of athletes. His father Walter Schaumann was Württemberg's long jump champion several times in the 1950s and later a car racing driver, who later lost a leg in a race.

At the European Athletics Indoor Championships, Schaumann was fourth over the 60 m hurdles in 1982 in Milan and 1983 in Budapest . At the World Athletics Championships in Helsinki in 1983 , he was eliminated in the preliminary stages.

At the German Championships in Bremen in 1983 , he became German champion over the 110 m hurdles, after having won bronze in Munich the year before . In the hall he was German champion three times in a row from 1982 to 1984. Schaumann started for the LG Kappelberg until 1983 , then for the MTV Stuttgart .

After his active sports career, he studied economics at the University of Hohenheim and worked in the local marketing club. After completing his studies, he worked in management consulting, at an investment bank, in the venture capital business and was a board member of a company in the telecommunications sector. He then went into business for himself as a consultant.

During his professional career, Schaumann also did athletics for senior citizens at MTV Stuttgart. So he started in the 100-meter run until 2011.
