Axl Makana
Axl Makana (civil: Axel Steinhagen , * in Wismar ) is a Berlin based musician , singer and songwriter .
Life
In 1991 Makana moved to Berlin and began studying ethnology there . There he founded the Mutabor project with others . From the mid-1990s Mutabor advanced to a folk punk band. In 2006, the EP Welcome to the template started the farewell tour, which ended with a concert in front of 2500 people in the Berlin club YAAM.
In February 2006 Makana met the music producer Kraans de Lutin , who was enthusiastic about the songs for the new solo album and offered his collaboration. This is how “Welcome to makana” got on the riddim sampler of the August / September issue and immediately on the daily rotation of Berlin Radio Multikulti .
In the summer of 2006 Axl Makana completed a street concert tour through Germany , which was organized by his fans, in September he played in the opening act of Martin Jondo's Echo & Smoke tour . In autumn and winter 2006 Axl Makana made a “warm-up tour” through clubs in Germany.
In December 2006 he released the EP Fortunately There's Chocolate .
In 2008 the album Ich ist ein anders, recorded at the Phlexton Studio Kreuzberg and produced by Kraans de Lutin, was released .
From 2007 to 2008 Axl Makana was on tour with his newly formed band “Ohrkesta”, which was partly made up of old Mutabor members.

The program included new tracks as well as some rarely or never played Mutabor songs.
In 2008 Axl Makana founded the Viva Humanidad project . The aims of this aid project are to improve the learning and teaching conditions in Ethiopia, to promote intercultural education in Germany and to build a network of supporting artists.
Since March 2009, Axl Makana toured again with his band Mutabor, which decided to return in December 2008. On October 1, 2010, Das Blaue , a new studio album with his band Mutabor, was released. In the spring of 2013, the album "Her with the beautiful life" followed on MakanaBeatRecords / Soulfood.
