Life

Jondo grew up as the son of a Korean and a German in the north of Berlin. At the end of the 1990s he first came into contact with the Rastafarian faith . He began to deal with the religion and spirituality of the Rastafarians and so came across reggae music. The first songs were created and published on samplers.

After meeting a gentleman in 2002, Jondo went on tour with him to sell t-shirts. In this context, Jondo presented his own composition "Rainbow Warrior" for the first time in front of a larger audience. In 2003, the song "Rainy Days" was published with Gentleman on the CD / DVD Gentleman And the Far East Band live .

Jondo also worked with Mellow Mark . On his album Sturm (2003) he is on the song “Mr. Bloodhunter ”and on the album Das 5te Element (2004) with the song“ Foundation ”. He broke out of the shadow of gentlemen and was voted Newcomer of the Year in the 2004 reggae magazine riddim poll . Martin Jondo is also involved in the song Every day is a comeback for Culcha Candela . He went on tour with Culcha Candela in autumn 2005.

On April 25, 2005 his debut EP Rainbow Warrior was released , completely produced by Kraans de Lutin . In 2006 he contributed the title Just the other day and the theme song The One to Peter Thorwarth's film Goldene Zeiten . Two years after the Rainbow Warrior EP , his first album Echo & Smoke was released . A video was shot for the song Are you really waiting from his new album, and it was also released as a single.

In the summer of 2006, Martin Jondo played with his band The Ruffcats at festivals such as the Chiemsee Reggae Summer and Summerjam . Jondo also played with this band on his first tour in autumn 2006. He was accompanied by Jahcoustix and Axl Makana . In the 2006 annual poll of the reggae magazine riddim, his debut album Echo & Smoke was voted the best national album of the year. In 2007 Jondo performed at several festivals and was the opening act on Gentleman’s “Another Intensity” tour. He could also be heard in May 2009 at the Evangelical Church Congress in Bremen at an event for Bread for the World . He also appeared at the Reeds Festival in Pfäffikon (CH).

In February 2009 Jondo's second album "Pure" was released. The album contains ten acoustic songs and two remixes.

In the run-up to the release of his album “Sky Rider”, which appeared in mid-July 2010, Martin Jondo released the song “Golden Sun” as a free Mp3.
