Azrath-11 is an Italian black and death metal band from Gorizia , which was founded in 2007.

history

The band was founded in the winter of 2007 by drummer Asmodevs Draco Dvx aka Jonathan Garofoli and guitarist Elvis "Absu TD" Masut. After a few months, the duo was joined by the addition of bassist Marco "Dioskovroi DF" Rosa and singer Luca "Svarog LT" Morena in 2008. After the first rehearsals and concerts with, among others, Belphegor and Impiety , the band went to the studio in spring 2009 to record their debut album The Shrine ov All Hallucinations . Meanwhile, Masut and Morena left the cast. While Masut had earned his share before his departure, Garofoli took over the vocals. After the material was mastered by Colin Davis in Imperial Mastering Studio, California , the album was released in July 2011 via Slava Satan Records . Federico Tacoli aka Siderevs Ocvlvs Mvndi joined as guitarist. In May 2010 the work on the next album had already started, in September Antheres Atras Exitvm aka Lorenzo Orsini joined them as the new singer. In April 2011 the band performed together with Malevolent Creation , before, after further concerts with Vomitory and Prostitute Disfigurement, the recordings for the second album began in early 2012, which took place with producer Marco Falanga . The material was mastered in the Polish Hertz Recording Studio . After a record deal with Punishment 18 Records was signed in October 2012, the album Ov Tentacles and Spirals was released in February 2013 . Of these, all 1200 units were sold by February of the following year. In October 2014, guitarist Tacoli left the line-up.

style

Jan Wischkowski from metal.de wrote in his review of Ov Tentacles and Spirals that the album, like its predecessor, is based on a mixture of Black and Death Metal. The group sounds influenced by Behemoth and Vader , with the songs mostly played quickly and aggressively. In the song Beholding the Oceans , clear vocals are used briefly, while Surge comes up with a drum solo . Shawn Miller from metal-observer.com reviewed the same album and also assigned the group to death and black metal. The speed is almost consistently high, but the band also makes use of tempo changes, which is mostly done by the electric guitar. The guitar riffs sound like a mixture of Florida death metal and the black and death metal of Behemoth and Belphegor. The vocals are reminiscent of Technical Death Metal and consist of throaty, deep shouts and are comparable to those of Decapitated on their album Nihility . In the long run, however, the singing seems too one-dimensional. There are also backing vocals that evoke memories of Chuck Billy , but don't really go with the music.
