Impiety is a black metal - band from Singapore .

history

Impiety was founded in Singapore in 1990 by singer and bassist (and at times also guitarist) Shyaithan ( real name : Ariffeen Deen). Before that he played from 1987 with other "crazy and insane war demons" ( English demented and insane wardemons ) cover songs a . a. by Bathory , Hellhammer , Sarcófago as well as by Destruction and Sodom .

In 1991 the first demo rehearsal demo appeared and in the following year the second demo with Ceremonial NecroChrist Redesecration . Then followed in 1993 with the EP Salve The Goat ... Iblis Exelsi via Shivadarshana Records from the Netherlands, the first release on a music label . The debut album Asateerul Awaleen was released there in 1996 .

The following albums were also frequently released by European record companies, including 2000 the vinyl version of Skullfucking Armageddon from Iron Pegasus Records from Germany, Kaos Kommand 696 in 2002 from Osmose Productions from France and Paramount Evil 2004 from Agonia Records from Poland.

With Dominator published Impiety 2008 EP with Pulverized Records , where with Sorrow Throughout the Nine Worlds in 1996 already the label debut of Amon Amarth appeared.

The band played international concerts in the second half of the 1990s in Malaysia and Indonesia, in 2011 in the USA (with Gravehill ) and Mexico, and in 2014 in Bangladesh, India and China.

style

The band describes their style as "Christfucking Nuclear War Metal". The inspirations during the founding period included in particular thrash and black metal bands from the 1980s such as Assassin , Bathory , Blasphemy , Exumer , Morbid Angel , Necrodeath , Possessed , Sodom and "other old, extremely cult bands ".

The band has remained consistently true to this style. The Austrian online magazine stormbringer.at judged the 2008 EP Dominator that it offered "extremely rumbling, rough Black Metal with a multitude of mangy Thrash quotes." When discussing the re-release of Skullfucking Armageddon in 2011 brought the reviewer from metal.de condensed his impression to the point: “Black / Thrash / Death of the best kind”.

controversy

The song Carbonized of the 1994 album Paramount Evil , which deals with Josef Mengele busy, and especially the line "We applaud the wanton brutality, anti jewish supremacy" meant that the band was confronted with the allegations, it would the Nazis as well as anti-Semitism support. Further allegations put the band in the context of NSBM . In an English-language interview with the German online magazine Voices from the Darkside , Impiety on the one hand clearly distanced itself from the Nazi allegations, but at the same time stuck to the text as a whole and the line itself. This was justified by the fact that the band was consistently "anti-religious" and against the background not only anti-Jewish, but also anti-Christian, anti-Muslim and anti-Hindu.
