Surrender of Divinity is a black metal band from Bangkok , Thailand, founded in 1996 .
history
The band, founded in 1996, currently consists of the musicians Xulaynus ( drums ) and Whathayakorn ( electric guitar ). Singer and bassist Samong "Avaejee" Traisattha was one of the founders of the group and was continuously active in the band until his death .
After the release of two demos in 1997 and 1998, as well as a split tape under the name Christbeheaders with the Filipino band Korihor (released via IPN Productions) in 2000, the debut album Oriental Hell Rhythmics was released in 2001 , which was released via Psychic Scream Entertainment ( Malaysia ), Deathrash Armageddon Records ( Japan ) and Unholy Horde Records ( United States ). In the following years 2004 to 2006 three more split releases appeared with Impiety , Amarok and Sabbat . Via the Dutch record company From Beyond Productions , the group released the second album Manifest Blasphemy: The Abortion of the Immaculate Conception in 2006 , which even received a record review in German Metal Hammer . In October 2006 the compilation Goatwrath Incarnation appeared on the two labels Witchhammer Productions and InCoffin Production . In November 2008 the label Deathrash Armageddon Records released the split CD Deathstrike from the Abyss , on which the group worked with the band Bestial Holocaust from Bolivia . On November 12, 2013 another split CD was released under the name Angelslaying Christbeheading Black Fucking Metal with Archgoat . The CD was released through InCoffin Records and Hells Headbangers Records. This split CD is the band's last release to date.
Avaejee was murdered by Prakarn Harnphanbusakorn on the evening of January 8, 2014 after an argument between the two men. Harnphanbusakorn visited the singer in his house to have a beer with Traisattha and to print T-shirts. Traisattha's wife later found her husband lifeless in the house. Two days later, Harnphanbusakorn admitted the crime on his Facebook profile. He justified his act that the singer had brought "shame on Satan ":
“I have intended to end my life since I was 25 years old. Because I will eventually die, I want to drag down those who shame Satan with me. However, I refrain from murdering women and children. In my view, I have more respect for devoted Buddhists, Christians, or Muslims than those who call themselves Satanists without knowing anything about it. If I don't kill him, then I'm sure that someone else will kill him later. "
Music genre
Surrender of Divinity was based on Nordic Black Metal; Gunnar Sauermann from Metal Hammer named "[e] in desolate rattle drums, frosty guitar roar, barely audible bass frequencies and a hateful croak" as the basic components. However, the band “unfortunately doesn't always keep up with their high-speed attacks in terms of play”: Their pieces “rattle” rather monotonously from the loudspeakers, and “[w] utes boards and high-pitched drooling” are rarely accompanied by other elements such as growls or slow ones Passages loosened up. The band “just imitates one style without providing any impulses”, and they still lack the necessary maturity.
