Azzolino Chiappini

Azzolino Chiappini (* 1940 in Davos ) is a Swiss Roman Catholic theologian .

Life

Chiappini studied theology in Freiburg im Üechtland and in Rome with a specialization in biblical theology ( licentiate ) and fundamental theology ( doctorate at the Gregorian ). From 1966 to 1967 he taught fundamental theology and Biblical Greek at the seminary in Lugano. Until 1984 he held annual courses for laypeople (teaching: Introduction to the Bible) in Lugano and Novara . From 1975 to 1978 he was Conseiller d'études at the Theological Faculty of the University of Friborg (tutor, introduction to methodology, introductory seminar on the history of Israel and the Old Testament). He continues to teach at the Theological Faculty of the University of Friborg ( Situation de la foi , three hours per week) (1987–1996). Since the establishment of the institute (1992) he has been a permanent lecturer at the Facoltà di Teologia di Lugano and then a full professor of fundamental theology. He was a member of the theological commission of the Swiss Bishops' Conference and the commission for dialogue between the Catholic Church and the Swiss Reformed Church; Jewish-Roman-Catholic Discussion Commission.

As a priest of the Diocese of Lugano , he was vicar general for many years . In 2008 he was appointed rector of the theological faculty of Lugano. In 2010 he received an honorary doctorate from the Faculty of Orthodox Theology of Ovidius University in Constanța .
