Bärbel Holtz

Bärbel Holtz (* 1958 ) is a German historian and archivist .

Holtz studied history from 1977 to 1981 at the Humboldt University in Berlin (graduate historian 1981). Then she was a research student at the History Section / Chair for the History of Russia and the USSR ( Günter Rosenfeld ). In 1985, she was with the dissertation The struggle of the CPSU (b) enforce the Leninist general line of socialist construction in the evaluation of social forces in Germany (end 1923 - end 1927) to Dr. phil. PhD. From 1984 to 1993 she was a research assistant or aspirant at the Chair of State History Berlin-Brandenburg ( Ingo Materna ). She also studied postgraduate a. a. Archival Studies at the HU Berlin (specialist archivist 1993).

In 1994 she became a research assistant in the academy project “Protocols of the Prussian State Ministry 1810 / 17–1934 / 38” of the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences . In 1998 she became the job manager. Since 2004 she has also been responsible for the academy project “Prussia as a cultural state”. In addition, since 2011 she has been teaching at the Chair of History of Prussia / Alfred Freiherr v. Oppenheim endowed professorship ( Wolfgang Neugebauer ) at the Humboldt University in Berlin.

Holtz is a member of the Prussian Historical Commission (member of the executive board), the Working Group on the History of Prussia and the Historical Commission in Berlin . She brought out several editions.
