Ingo Materna
Ingo Materna (born June 22, 1932 in Groß Lunow ) is a German contemporary historian .
Life
Ingo Materna grew up in Güstrow . In his childhood, Materna was a member of the Hitler Youth and briefly attended an Adolf Hitler School at the Ordensburg Sonthofen . After the war he attended a school in Ludwigslust and joined the FDJ . After graduating from high school, he studied history and education, philosophy and psychology at the Humboldt University in Berlin from 1951 to 1955 . In 1952 he joined the SED . After graduating, he worked briefly as a history teacher in Brandenburg , after which he took a job as an assistant at the Museum of German History . He specialized in the November Revolution of 1918 and the history of the Berlin workers' movement . In 1963, Materna was involved in the design of new exhibition areas on the history of 1900 to 1945. At that time, Materna was in contact with Ernst Busch and other important representatives of the labor movement. After receiving his doctorate in 1970, he became deputy director of the Museum of German History. From September 1, 1981 to 1997, he held a chair for the territorial history of Berlin-Brandenburg at the Humboldt University in Berlin.
