Bärlochsmühle

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bärlochsmühle is a former mill near Straßberg in the Harz Mountains . It is believed that this mill is directly related to the Birnbaum settlement, which became desolate in the 15th century .

history

The mill is located near the confluence of the Glasebach in the Selke and is related to a hut that was first mentioned here on March 10, 1467. At that time the two counts Heinrich von Schwarzburg and Heinrich zu Stolberg enfeoffed the brothers Röder and von Harz, among other things, with a meadow bene the Strasberg never our Hutten . The fief was renewed in 1511 by Prince Wolfgang von Anhalt .

In 1714 Daniel Buchheister applied here below the smelter to build a dam next to the mill, which was rejected. In 1718, approval was requested from Count Christoph Friedrich zu Stolberg-Stolberg again and this time, subject to conditions, it was also approved. The mill was completely destroyed in 1752 by the breach of the Glasebacher pond . The rebuilding was only approved in 1850, renamed Bärlochsmühle five years later and converted into a sawmill the following year. The mill went down around 1950.
