Béla Halász (born July 4, 1927 in Kalaznó ; † March 7, 2019 ) was a Hungarian anatomist and endocrinologist .

Halász obtained an MD, DSci from the University of Pécs in 1954 as a medical degree. He then worked with János Szentágothai in the anatomy department of the same university, where he obtained a D.Sc. acquired and also received a professorship himself. In 1965/65 he spent a year abroad with Charles H. Sawyer and Roger A. Gorski at the University of California, Los Angeles . In 1971 Halász became professor of anatomy at Semmelweis University in Budapest , where he was vice- rector of the university from 1973 to 1979 .

Halász was able to make significant contributions to the nervous control of the anterior pituitary gland . Together with Szentágothai he proposed an internal feedback of the pituitary hormones. He was also able to show that there is a functional connection between the adrenal cortex and the hypothalamus . He developed techniques for the targeted denervation of individual parts of the neurohypophysis . Halász discovered that releasing hormones and release inhibiting hormones are effective in the regulation of the anterior pituitary gland on a first level and neural connections on a second level.

Béla Halász has published 120 scientific publications . His monographs include Hypothalamic Control of the Anterior Pituary (with Szentágothai, Béla Flerkó and B. Mess, 1962) and The Dopaminergic system (1985).

Halász was married to a doctor and had two daughters.
