Bénilde Romançon
Bénilde Romançon FSC (also called Benildus , born June 14, 1805 in Thuret , France; † August 13, 1862 in Saugues , France) was a French member of the Order of the School Brothers of St. John de la Salle and is a saint in the Catholic Church revered.
Pierre, who came from a farming family, joined the “School Brothers of St. John de la Salle” at the age of 14 and took the name Bénilde. He founded a school in Saugues, which he led himself from 1841. He was considered a sensitive educator and spiritual leader of the young people.
In 1948 he was appointed by Pope Pius XII. blessed and in 1967 by Pope Paul VI. canonized .
