The Dr. Th. Böhme KG, Chem. Fabrik GmbH & Co. was a chemical company that had been manufacturing products for the finishing of textiles and leather since 1879, first in Dresden and later in Geretsried .

history

The company was founded by Adolf Theodor Böhme in Dresden in 1879 and was based there until it was destroyed in 1945. After the founding family fled to the West, the company was re-established in Hilpoltstein near Nuremberg in 1946 , and moved to Geretsried in 1948 the site of a former explosives factory in today's Gartenberg district . The number of employees rose from 27 in 1949, to 220 in 1969 and up to 570 in 1991. The company entered into collaborations around the world and founded subsidiaries abroad. World sales in 2004 were 145 million euros. Members of the Böhme family were represented in the management until 1999.

In August 2006 Böhme was sold to the dye manufacturer DyStar . After DyStar went bankrupt , the location was taken over on April 1, 2010 by the Düsseldorf-based company Pulcra Chemicals, formerly part of the Henkel Group and former subsidiary of Cognis . The site has been the headquarters of Pulcra Chemicals since March 2011.

The production site that remained in Dresden in 1945 was partially nationalized and in 1972 completely became a state-owned company . He mainly produced aids for textile finishing. From 1976 it was merged with VEB Fettchemie Karl-Marx-Stadt , which in turn goes back to a company that was founded in Kappel near Chemnitz in 1881 by Hermann Theodor Böhme, a brother of the Dresden company founder Adolf Theodor Böhme.
