The Bohemian Basin (Czech česká kotlina ) is a hilly region in the Czech Republic , in which smaller basins are interspersed. It is mainly framed by the outskirts of the Bohemian Massif.

The main ridges of the Bohemian Massif around the central town of Prague are in the southwest of the Upper Palatinate and Bohemian Forest from Pilsen to Budweis , in the northwest the Ore Mountains around Ústí nad Labem , in the northeast the Giant and Eagle Mountains from Liberec to Hradec Králové and in the southeast the Bohemian Mountains. Moravian mountain range from Hradec Králové to Budweis. These low mountain ranges surround the heartland of Bohemia, which is interspersed with small mountain ranges and is known as the Bohemian Basin. It is bounded on 3 sides by the main European watershed . The entire basin drains northwest over the Elbe and Moldau into the North Sea. In the southeast, separated by the Bohemian-Moravian ridge, joins the South Moravian lowlands, which further south-east of Brno gradually merges into the Slovak Danube lowlands .

According to its structure ( granite , gneiss , mica slate ), the Bohemian Mass is one of the oldest mountain ranges in Europe .
