In vehicle design, an evil eye is a front section in which the headlight design is reminiscent of “squinted eyes in connection with eyebrows that run upwards”, creating an aggressive appearance.

In the past, this style element was only used in the tuning scene , but now numerous automobile manufacturers design the front end themselves according to this principle. The Dresden traffic psychologist Bernhard Schlag (member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Federal Ministry of Transport ) criticized this development: Some cars would act "like a loaded weapon", which leads to more aggressive behavior in traffic.

The formulation itself comes from the "lower tuning jargon". The premium manufacturer BMW z. B. instead uses the term “focused gaze” in its communication.

Even with motorcycles such. B. the MT-10 from Yamaha , this design element is used.

If the light cone of the headlight is changed by subsequent conversion, this can lead to the expiry of the operating permit and the forced shutdown of the vehicle.
