history
775 / 786–815, Wolfgang Kahl proves that Bösleben was first mentioned in a document. As Bozilebo she goes back to the Lulli Breviary of the Hersfeld Monastery.
In 1119 there was a moated castle , which over time was used by various counts and knights for defense purposes. Count Wichmann, Ritter Dietrich and also Lords von Witzleben are proven. Later the Counts of Gleichen had suzerainty and the Schwarzburger suzerainty. In 1837 Caroline von Wolhaben sold the estate to the Rudolstadt Chamber. Shortly afterwards, the areas were sold in parcels. The community later bought the manor house and set up the school in it in 1888.
In 1813, the headquarters of the II Prussian Corps under Friedrich von Kleist was in Bösleben: Siege of Erfurt (1813) . It was one of the troops who besieged the French-occupied Erfurt from October 1813.
Politically, Bösleben belonged to the Stadtilm office in Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt until 1920 . Then it came to the district of Arnstadt in the newly formed state of Thuringia . During the municipal reform of 1952, it was assigned to the Arnstadt district in the Erfurt district . On January 1, 1967, Bösleben was combined with the neighboring Wüllersleben to form the Bösleben-Wüllersleben community . In 1994 the place became part of the newly formed Ilm district based in Arnstadt .
