Büren is a district of the Lotte community in the Steinfurt district of North Rhine-Westphalia . On December 31, 2016, Büren had 4562 inhabitants who lived in an area of 331 ha .
The place is located northeast of the core town Lotte on the southern border with Lower Saxony . North flows the Hase and the Osnabrück Canal , west extending A 1 . To the south - in Lower Saxony - runs the state road L 88. Neighboring town - also in Lower Saxony - is Eversburg , a district of Osnabrück , to the southeast .
The main development of the district is the Strotheweg. There are residential areas along this, in the west of the district there is an industrial area. There are agricultural areas to the north of the residential areas. The east of the district was built on clarification ponds that have now been filled in for pit water from the Piesberg colliery, which is a few kilometers away .
In Büren there is the rainbow elementary school , the community center Elly Heuss meeting place , the rainbow day care center and the family center Kinderland . In the Richard-Eberlein-Straße / Berliner Platz area is the town center with local amenities, there are other shops on the outskirts of Osnabrück in the Bergstraße / Landwehrstraße area. The Evangelical Peace Church is located on the Kirchweg. Büren has a sports field with two soccer fields, tennis courts and an athletics facility, on which SV Büren 2010 eV trains.
Bus line 11 from Osnabrück ends at Westfalenplatz (stop “Eversburg / Büren”). Line R11 runs through Büren towards Wersen and Westerkappeln. If the Tecklenburger Nordbahn is to be reactivated , Büren will be connected via the new “Eversburg / Büren” and “Kromschröder” railway stations.
