The Büssing 6000 S was a truck model from Büssing Nutzkraftwagen GmbH , which was manufactured between 1953 and 1956. Various buses of the 6000 T and 6500 T types were manufactured on this chassis until 1957 .

history

After the unconditional surrender in 1945 , types that had been tried and tested during the World War were first produced in partially refurbished factories. The Büssing 5000 S (formerly 4500) with 5.35 tons of payload and 105  hp was built until 1950 and then replaced by the 5500 S until 1952. The successor model was the 6000 S with an engine output of 120 hp.

The 6000 S (S as in vertical engine ) was one of the long- haul trucks preferred by long-haul drivers . The noise of the motor gave the driver prior to the switch points to the unsynchronized transmission with intermediate coupling and intermediate gas to switch. The modern forward control Büssing 12000 was not accepted by the freight forwarders at the time.

technology

engine and gears

The truck had the series 6-cylinder - diesel engine S 8 with a capacity (88 kW) / min from eight liters and provided 120 horsepower at a speed of 1800's. The mechanical multi-step transmission Büssing 5 GSN was blocked with the engine, had five gears plus reverse and was not synchronized. The top two aisles were considered to be "quiet aisles".

Dimensions

Approved up to 36.25 tons

Due to the hood in front of the driver's cab, the 8.21  m long vehicle had a loading length of 5 m. The vehicle was 2.40 m wide and 2.85 m high. The smallest turning circle was 18.40 m.

The two-axle vehicle had a payload of 6.3 tons, a gross vehicle weight of 12.25 tons and was approved for a three-axle trailer with 24 tons. The gross train weight was 36.25 tons.

The tipper had a tipping bridge with a length of 4 m and a total length of 7.64 m. The payload could be 5.7 tons.

General

The fuel tank had a capacity of 150 liters, the diesel consumption according to the DIN 70300 of the time (half payload / three quarters of the maximum speed) was 18.5 liters / 100 km. The maximum and continuous speed were specified as 70  km / h .

The cab still had the usual wooden frame and a split windshield with hanging wipers . 1955 had the formerly common "flashing plants" Winker as direction indicators replaced. The chrome-plated “Büssing spider” on the hood shaped the image of the various models at the time.

6000 S all-wheel drive

The all-wheel drive version had a payload of 6.1 tons with a total weight of 12.6 tons and a gross vehicle weight of 36.6 tons. The payload of the tipper was allowed to be 5.75 tons. The fuel consumption was 21 liters / 100 km.

Omnibus 6000 T

The chassis of the 6000 was also used for the construction of buses since 1952; so for the Büssing 6000 T (like trambus ). The buses were all delivered with underfloor motors .

Since 1952, the Kässbohrer company has been using this chassis to build articulated trains with attached trailers , which were intended to replace the bus trailers banned in Germany in 1960 . The Büssing 6000 T articulated train was 17.2 meters long. The permissible total weight was 22.5 tons, in addition to the conductor and driver, the bus could carry 140 passengers (93 standing places). The engine used was the U10 with a displacement of ten liters and an output of 150 hp (110 kW).

Omnibus 6500 T

In 1954 the 6500 T followed, which was manufactured with the U10 engine until 1957. Depending on the gearbox, the maximum speed was 70–85 km / h. The permissible total weight was 14.1 tonnes, but could be exceeded by 1400 kg in "peak traffic" at speeds of up to 30 km / h. The number of passengers was 100 instead of the usual 80. A bus trailer weighing up to eleven tons was also permitted.

The double-deck trambus 6500 T of the Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (BVG) had a gross vehicle weight of 15.5 tons and carried 85 passengers (70 seats).

The Essen-based body construction company Gebr. Ludewig launched the one and a half-decker Büssing 6500 T Aero in 1955 .
