B. Crown (Beggars Crown) was a rock band that belongs to the so-called underground scene of the GDR . The group was founded in 1988 by members of the band Rosengarten . After the band broke up in 1990, B. Crown musicians worked with the bands Herbst in Beijing , Die Art , Corvus Corax and Di Grine Kuzine , among others .

history

The band was founded in Berlin in 1988 by former Rosengarten members Alex Carstensson (vocals & lyrics) and Torsten "Pegman" Füchsel (guitar). The first band members also included Felix Groß (bass), Dirk “Scholle” Scholz (drums) and Alexandra Dimitroff (cello). Stylistically, the first year of creativity was devoted to dark post-punk .

From the beginning of 1989 Frank Habetha (bass) and Peter Mieting (drums) formed the rhythm section; in addition, the cello is no longer used. After this reshuffle, the repertoire is increasingly developing towards alternative rock . In 1989, B. Crown was selected (alongside the bands "Kampanella Is Dead", "The Fate" and " Big Savod And The Deep Manko ") for the last edition of the "Kleeblatt" album series by the East German label Amiga .

The publication is delayed by the political change . Ultimately, the album was released on CD, MC and LP in the summer of 1990 under the title “All Tomorrow's Parties” on the Amiga successor label “Zd” (later “Zong”). A 3-week record release tour will take place with all participating bands for the release.

The song "Children Of The Sun" got airplay on DT64 and the West Berlin station Radio 100 and is also on the sampler "Grenzfalls". A concert recording from the Babylon cinema in Berlin was broadcast on Parocktikum (DT64).

October 1990 marked the end of B. Crown. In 1991 and 1997 the band performed one more concert each on Berlin stages.
