The personal BKK, which was incorporated into the BKK ATU in 2009, goes back to the health support association of the Munich-Dachauer-Aktiengesellschaft for machine-paper-manufacturing, which was founded in 1862. On January 1, 1885, the separation between the company health insurance and the pension fund came into effect. The statutory company health insurance was transferred to the factory health insurance of the Munich-Dachauer Actien-Gesellschaft für Maschinenpapierfabrikation in Munich . Until 1996 it remained the company health insurance fund of the MD paper mills in Dachau. From January 1994 the fund was renamed PBK - DIE PERSÖNLICHE Betriebskrankenkasse and on January 1, 1996 it was separated from the MD paper mills and opened throughout Bavaria.

Contribution rates

Since January 1, 2009 the contribution rates have been standardized by the legislator. From 2011 to 2014, the BKK paid its members an annual premium of 30 euros. Since 2017, the additional contribution has been an above-average 1.3 percent.
