Vocational preparation year

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The vocational preparation year ( BVJ ) is a school-based course in all federal states of Germany (except Brandenburg ), which is used for vocational preparation . In Brandenburg, the BVJ corresponds to the basic vocational training year (BGJ).

The BVJ was set up for pupils who, after finishing or dropping out of school, neither find a training place nor attend secondary schools, but are still subject to compulsory education . The vocational preparation year takes place at vocational schools . The number of students in the vocational preparation year is documented annually by the Federal Statistical Office in "Education and Culture - Vocational Schools".

Through the BVJ, the pupils can fulfill their compulsory schooling and at the same time possibly acquire the secondary school certificate. In the BVJ, basic professional knowledge is imparted in one or more professional groups. It thus also serves as a professional orientation, in addition to the expansion of general education and the acquisition of basic key qualifications, which should lead to an (improved) training maturity. When attending the BVJ for one year, compulsory schooling ends, even if the school year is not passed successfully.
