Babak Ghassim

Babak Ghassim (born June 7, 1983 in Tehran ) is a writer and co-founder, creative director and author of the stand-up comedy ensemble RebellComedy .

life and career

The son of Iranian parents grew up in Aachen . After graduating from high school, he studied literature in Heidelberg and Cologne . Babak Ghassim worked on various art projects, wrote scripts for two feature films and directed. With Usama Elyas he founded “ RebellComedy ” in 2006 because they couldn't identify with any existing comedy format in Germany. He himself is on stage with poetry slams and readings.

In 2017 he founded the literature and culture platform www.keschmesch.de. “Behind Us My Land” by Babak Ghassim and Usama Elyas is the best-known media poem in Germany in recent years after Jan Böhmermann's humiliating poem about the Turkish President Erdoğan. Ghassim is currently writing his first novel. He gives workshops on creative writing.
