Capital city award for integration and tolerance
The capital city prize for integration and tolerance is or was a prize on the topics of tolerance and integration . The award is given to integration work projects .
As part of the Capital City Prize, from 2012 onwards, individuals who stand out due to a special role model function or exceptional commitment have been awarded an honorary prize or special prize. These winners could then select a project of their choice as the recipient of the grant associated with the special award.
The award was founded in 2007 by the Capital Berlin Initiative . In 2011, the award was presented by Chancellor Angela Merkel . The patron of the award was the Federal Government Commissioner for Migration, Refugees and Integration Maria Böhmer until 2013 , until the patronage was transferred to Federal Minister of the Interior Thomas de Maizière in 2014 . Since the 10th Capital City Prize was awarded in 2017, the Capital City Prize has not been awarded or proclaimed (as of November 2019).
Award
The award goes back to the initiative of the association Initiative Hauptstadt Berlin , founded in 1990 .
Associations, project groups and non-governmental institutions can apply with their ongoing projects. The award on the occasion of the first award on November 20, 2007 endowed with a total of 15,000 euros (7,500 euros, 5,000 euros and 2,500 euros for first, second and third place); the money is to be used for the continuation and further development of these projects. In 2015, the prize was advertised with a total of 20,000 euros (6,000 euros, 5,000 euros and 4,000 euros for the first three places and 5,000 euros for the special prize).
The prize money originally came from the golf tournament for the Benefiz Business Capital Cup of the Capital Berlin Initiative, held annually until 2010 , through which money was collected for social projects . Since 2011 they have been financed from sponsorship funds.
In the preamble to the announcement of the eighth prize (2015) it says with regard to the motivation of the prize:
- " Integration as a social process as a whole represents [..] one of the great challenges of the present for our societies today, which are shaped by migration. Tolerance is also an indispensable prerequisite for a respectful and peaceful coexistence."

In 2017, the Capital Berlin Initiative awarded V. (IHB) for the 10th time the capital city award. The sum of the prize money has been doubled to 50,000 euros for this year with the help of donations. The following prizes were awarded:
