İdil Baydar (born April 30, 1975 in Celle ) is a German cabaret artist and actress . Her fictional characters , Gerda Grischke from Berlin and Jilet Ayşe , an 18-year-old Turkish woman from Kreuzberg, became known on YouTube .

biography

Baydar's parents are Turkish immigrants who separated shortly after Baydar was born. She grew up with her single mother in Celle and attended a Waldorf school , which she left when she moved to Berlin at the age of 16 . Ten years later, she caught up with her Abitur. Today she lives as an actress in Berlin-Kreuzberg , where she also works for youth organizations. Baydar's YouTube channel, on which she has been presenting self-written and self-performed pieces on the subject of integration since 2011 , made her known nationwide. On television she was in cabaret and comedy shows such as StandUpMigranten ( EinsPlus ), NightWash ( Einsfestival), Pufpaffs Happy Hour ( 3sat ), Die Anstalt ( ZDF ) and Ladies Night ( WDR ). In 2015 she had a permanent role in the RTL television series Block B - Unter Arrest . From 2012 to 2014 Baydar was on the air as Jilet Ayşe with the show Isch swear ... on Bild.de. In 2014 her cabaret solo program Germany, we have to talk! Premiere in Berlin. At the Hamburg Schauspielhaus she appeared in the play Am Königsweg by Elfriede Jelinek in 2017, staged by Falk Richter .

Reception and criticism

Reports in national newspapers and radio stations dealt with her person and her work. Emma magazine describes her as “the greatest impertinence of the German comedy scene at the moment: the vulgar, unrestrained Jilet Ayse. Its inventor knows both: Waldorf and Rütli schools. Today the daughter of Turkish parents is the rumbling exaggeration of all migrant clichés. "

In 2021 she was criticized in the world and by the German Association of Journalists for a clubhouse talk in which, among others, Arafat Abou-Chaker, a high-ranking member of the Berlin Abou-Chaker clan, took part . She agreed in a comment that stigmatization of Clan crime with the persecution of Jews in the Nazi era equated. Abou-Chaker spoke of " kin liability ". The next day both distanced themselves from a comparison with the Holocaust . Stephan Dörner had published a transcript of the conversation on Twitter . At the time, Johannes Schneider spoke of a “trivialization of the Holocaust”. The Mayor of Neukölln, Martin Hikel, described the statements as conspiracy theories , and the Berlin Green Party announced that it would seek talks with Baydar before further cooperation. Johannes Boie , editor-in-chief of Welt am Sonntag , complained that the criticism of Baydar in comparison to the trivialization of National Socialism at lateral thinker demonstrations was low.

Death threats from right-wing extremists

Baydar received death threats in early 2019 in response to her views on the issue of racism and discrimination against migrants. After it became known that she was to give the central speech at the rally to commemorate the racist arson attack in Mölln in 1992 on November 17, 2019 , she received further death threats. Some of the threats were signed with NSU 2.0 . Personal data about Idil Baydar had previously been retrieved from Hessian police computers. The computer accesses took place from the 4th district of the police headquarters in Wiesbaden and from the 3rd district in Frankfurt am Main. According to his own information, Idil Baydar reported eight times to the police by 2020, eight times the proceedings were discontinued without result.
