Abraham Taherivand (born February 11, 1978 in Tehran ) is a German computer scientist and manager in the IT sector and board member of Wikimedia Germany .

Life

Abraham Taherivand grew up in Karlsruhe and studied business informatics at the Stuttgart Media University , information management and information engineering at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology and design thinking at the Hasso Plattner Institute in Potsdam. Since 1999 he has lived in Berlin with short breaks . He was a consultant and project manager, especially in the IT area (IT strategy, agile infrastructures and processes, product innovation), and from 2008 worked as a serial entrepreneur (serial founder). He is also the founder and partner of various startups, including the beer publisher Unverhopft from Berlin.

Taherivand has been working for the Wikimedia Germany association - Society for the Promotion of Free Knowledge e. V. (WMDE) based in Berlin, initially as a project manager for Wikidata and later as head of software development. At the end of 2016, he was initially appointed by the Presidium as an interim director, and in January 2017 as the managing director of Wikimedia Germany.

His hobbies include Asian martial arts and healing practices, he is a passionate chess player and beer publisher.
