Babayaga is a German ska and reggae band.

Band history

Babayaga was founded in Jena in 2001 ; the style was initially based on funk and reggae. In 2002 the debut album "Immer nur Rhythmus" was released. After several line-up changes, the second album "Heiss" was released in 2006, with Ska elements coming to the fore for the first time. The album was received very positively by the critics. Numerous concerts followed throughout Germany. In 2010, Babayaga was signed to Skanky'Lil Records , the Antwerp- based label of British ska musician Mark Foggo . There the third album "Funky Drop" was released (Skanky´Lil Records / Cargo Records ), which also received positive reviews. In 2010 and 2011, in addition to their own concerts, the band also toured several times as a backing band for Mark Foggo.
