1 1 Ragesh 3 Midnight on the Firing Line Jan. 26, 1994 Aug 6, 1995 Richard Compton J. Michael Straczynski 103
The Centauri farming colony of Ragesh 3 is attacked by several spaceships. Recordings from a surveillance camera show that they are Narn fighter pilots. The Centauri government considers the colony too remote and insignificant to risk a military strike. The enmity between ambassadors Londo Mollari of the Centauri and G'Kar of the Narn escalates, however, and Londo is barely deterred from an assassination attempt on G'Kar. G'Kar initially denies Narn involvement. Meanwhile, Commander Sinclair discovered a Narn officer during a combat mission against raiders (space pirates) on their fire control center and intercepted radio messages that prove that the Narn were actually behind the attack on Ragesh 3. Commander Sinclair threatens G'Kar to publish the evidence unless the Narn withdraw from the colony.
2 2 The soul hunter Soul Hunter Feb. 2, 1994 Aug 13, 1995 Jim Johnston J. Michael Straczynski 102
A damaged spaceship of unknown design trundles towards the station. The unconscious pilot is brought to the infirmary (Medlab). The Minbari ambassador Delenn recognizes him as a "soul hunter", a being that is drawn to death and gathers the souls of the deceased. She advises Sinclair to kill the soul hunter immediately. He finally awakens and claims that his people only save their souls and make them immortal, otherwise they would end in death. He tells how the soul hunters once tried to "save" the soul of the Minbari leader Dukhat, but the Minbari prevented this. He realizes that Delenn is one of those Minbari. The soul hunter escapes from the medlab, kidnaps Delenn and wants to tear her soul away. As a member of the Gray Council (the chief council of the Minbari), Delenn believes that by preserving her soul, he can make amends for his failure with Dukhat. Meanwhile, another spaceship with a soul hunter arrives on Babylon 5. He explains that his brother has gone mad and is no longer waiting for death, but is bringing it about himself. At the last moment Delenn can be freed, whereby her kidnapper is killed. Delenn takes his collected souls and sets them free.
3 3 The purple dates Born to the Purple Feb 9, 1994 Aug 20, 1995 Bruce Seth Green Larry DiTillio 104
Londo Mollari falls in love with the Centauri dancer Adira Tyree, but has no idea that she is a slave. Its owner, Trakis, intends to use it to steal Londo's “purple data” - a collection of compromising material from powerful Centauri houses - and thereby blackmail the Centauri. Adira stuns Londo, extracts the password for his computer and stores the purple data on a data crystal. When Trakis tries to take the data, Adira flees. Londo starts looking for her, but Trakis finds her first and takes the crystal. With the help of Sinclair and the telepath Talia Winters, however, Londo can determine the whereabouts of Adira. Trakis is overwhelmed and Adira is free. Londo asks Adira to stay, but she first returns to her home world to deal with what happened.

In the meantime, security chief Garibaldi is on the trail of a hacker who illegally uses the communication channels of the management level for private communication. When he finds out that it is Commander Ivanova, who is talking to her dying father, he does not pursue the matter further.

4th 4th A scary find Infection Feb 16, 1994 Aug 27, 1995 Richard Compton J. Michael Straczynski 101
Scientist Vance Hendricks and his assistant Nelson Drake smuggle alien artifacts from the planet Ikarra 7 to Babylon 5, with Drake killing a station worker unnoticed. Hendricks is a former professor and friend of Babylon 5's senior physician, Dr. Stephen Franklin, and starts exploring the artifacts with him. They find out that it is highly developed organic technology. Meanwhile, one of the artifacts takes control of Drake, whereupon Drake is transformed into an increasingly powerful fighting machine that runs amok on the station. Franklin is now finding out the background: The Ikarrans once created a weapon that was supposed to kill anyone who was not 100 percent pure Ikarrans. However, since no Ikkaran can meet this criterion, the whole people was destroyed. Sinclair uses this knowledge to talk into the conscience of the fighting machine. This then destroys itself. The remaining artifacts are confiscated from Earth by the Bioweapons Department.
5 5 Attack on G'Kar The Parliament of Dreams Feb 23, 1994 3rd Sep 1995 Jim Johnston J. Michael Straczynski 108
While Babylon 5 is hosting a festival where different alien cultures can demonstrate their customs, G'Kar receives news from an old rival from a courier. He tells G'Kar that he is expecting his own death, but that he has previously appointed a contract killer on G'Kar. Shortly afterwards, when the Narn Na'Toth introduces herself to him as his new assistant, he believes she is the assassin. However, she can reassure him, since it is customary for the Narn contract killers to give the victim a black flower as a warning before the murder. When he actually receives such a flower later, he takes a bodyguard who is soon killed. Eventually G'Kar is found by the assassin - it is the courier Tu'Pari who initially brought the news to him. Na'Toth comes to G'Kar's aid and frees him. G'Kar then deposited a large amount of money in the assassin's account to pretend that he had taken a bribe not to carry out the murder. Tu'Pari, terrified of the impending consequences, leaves the station.
6th 6th The power of the mind Mind War 2nd Mar 1994 Sep 10 1995 Bruce Seth Green J. Michael Straczynski 110
The telepath Jason Ironheart is on the run. The Psi-Corps, the telepath organization on earth, conducted experiments on him to increase his telepathic abilities. Two psi-policemen of the Corps, Alfred Bester and his assistant arrive shortly after Ironheart on Babylon 5 and go in search of him. Ironheart has confided in his former girlfriend, Talia Winters. He explains to her that the Psi-Corps wants to create a new weapon with its experiments. His abilities, which are now also of a telekinetic nature, have since become stronger and more uncontrollable. Finally, he builds up a mental protective shield around himself to fend off the psi cops. Thaila convinces Sinclair to get Ironhaert to safety. An attempt to smuggle him past his pursuers unnoticed, however, ends in an exchange of fire in which Ironheart's assistant telekinetically kills Bester's assistant. When he leaves the station, he transforms into a being of pure energy. Before he disappears, he transfers some of his telekinetic skills to Talia.

Meanwhile, Catherine Sakai, the former partner of Commander Sinclair, has an encounter with a large unidentified flying object on a reconnaissance flight around the planet Sigma 957.

7th 7th Attack on the aliens The War Prayer 9 Mar 1994 17 Sep 1995 Richard Compton DC Fontana 107
On Babylon 5, physical attacks on aliens are increasing, behind which the racist "Homeguard" movement is suspected. Among those affected are an old friend of Delenn's and a young couple from Centauri who have fled their homeworld to avoid the weddings arranged for them there. The situation escalated when a suspect was released shortly after his arrest and then beaten up by angry aliens. At the medlab, the suspect receives a visit from Malcom Biggs, a former lover of Commander Ivanova. Biggs encourages him to join the homeguard. Sinclair learns of this conversation and decides to set a trap for Biggs. He feigns interest in joining the homeguard as well. Biggs demands, however, as proof of loyalty that Sinclair kill the Abbai ambassador. The ambassador is kidnapped and Sinclair brought in; Garibaldi can, however, overwhelm Biggs and his colleagues.
8th 8th Trapped in the cyber network And the Sky Full of Stars 16. Mar. 1994 Sep 24 1995 Janet Greek J. Michael Straczynski 106
Two men come to the ward and install technology in their quarters to create a virtual reality, a so-called cyber network. They take Sinclair prisoner and connect him with one of the men to the cybernet. They want to use the virtual environment and special drugs to interrogate Sinclair about his role in the decisive battle in the war between humans and Minbari. Sinclair, then a fighter pilot, was taken aboard an enemy ship during this battle and interrogated there. Delenn was among the Minbari present. After that, he only remembers that the Minbari, despite their absolute superiority, suddenly surrendered and thus saved humanity from doom. Sinclair's kidnappers fail to find out the reasons for the surrender and to fill his memory gap. Eventually Sinclair escapes from the cyber network, damaging the technology in such a way that the kidnapper who is associated with him is confused and without memories. Still in a daze, Sinclair shoots the second man. Garibaldi discovers that the two belong to a group that suspects a conspiracy between some humans and the Minbari. Delenn meets with a Minbari who informs her that Sinclair must be killed if he ever remembers what happened.
9 9 The Bringer of Death Deathwalker Apr 20, 1994 Oct. 1, 1995 Bruce Seth Green Larry DiTillio 113
A Dilgar woman enters the station and is immediately attacked by Na'Toth. She recognizes in the woman the "death bringer" Jha'dur, who Na'Toth's grandfather killed in medical experiments. The Dilgar once waged a war against the humans, and the Deathbringer is a notorious war criminal. In the Medlab, Dr. Franklin states that Jha'dur's wounds heal unusually quickly. She is also apparently too old to be the Deathbringer; the Dilgar are also considered to be extinct. In the meantime, a rumor has spread that Jha'dur confirms: During her experiments on humans and aliens, she discovered an immortality serum. As a result, several peoples demand that the death-bringer be brought to justice on their respective home planets as a war criminal. Obviously this is just an excuse to get the serum. Sinclair finally agrees with some ambassadors that Jha'dur will develop the serum to market maturity on Earth and that it will then be tried by the League of Non-Aligned Worlds. Before their departure, Jha'dur Sinclair reveals that the serum can only be obtained from a living being, so that someone always has to die so that another can live forever. As she leaves Babylon 5, a Vorlon spaceship appears, destroys Jha'dur's ship and with it the serum. Vorlon Ambassador Kosh justified the action with the fact that the other peoples are not yet ready for immortality.
10 10 The believers Believers Apr 27, 1994 Oct 8, 1995 Richard Compton David Gerrold 105
Dr. Franklin diagnoses an alien boy, Shon, with an illness that threatens to suffocate him without treatment. A small, straightforward procedure would save Shon's life. However, the parents strictly refuse to have an operation because of their religion. They fear that this will cause his soul to leave the body. Franklin refuses to accept this and asks Sinclair to allow him to have the operation against his parents' wishes. When they find out, they ask the ambassadors of the most influential peoples to stand up for them; but no people want to take sides. After talking to Shon, Sinclair decides to respect the parents' beliefs and does not allow Franklin to have the operation. Aware of the impending consequences, Franklin nevertheless decides to undertake a clandestine operation. Sinclair is beside himself and wants to remove Franklin from his post immediately. The parents appear and forgive Franklin, because he acted out of conviction and they respected this. Too late, Franklin realizes that he had underestimated the belief of his parents: They killed their son because he was nothing but an empty shell after the procedure.
11 11 A reunion with consequences Survivors May 4, 1994 Oct 15, 1995 Jim Johnston Marc Scott Zicree 111
Just before the President of Earth visits Babylon 5, there is an explosion there. Security officer Lianna Kemmer is sent to the station to investigate the incident. Kemmer is the daughter of an old friend and work colleague of Garibaldi's who once lost his life in the service. She sees the blame for this in Garibaldi. The station employee Nolan, injured by the explosion, stated shortly before his death that Garibaldi was responsible for the attack. When Kemmer and her assistant Cutter find plans of the attack site and other incriminating material in Garibaldi's quarters, Garibaldi senses a conspiracy and fled. In his desperation, he fell back on alcohol, although his addiction to it had previously posed problems for him. Eventually he is found by Kemmer. Meanwhile, security officer Lou Welch is investigating the quarters of Nolan, who was killed in the attack. He finds a detonator and homeguard leaflets. It becomes clear that Nolan planted the bomb and was fatally injured in the process. Shortly before the president arrives, Cutter pretends to check the landing bays again. Garibaldi is suspicious and persuades Kemmer to take care of the matter personally. His suspicions are confirmed: There is a battle with Cutter, but it can be overwhelmed. Several bombs already placed are found. Kemmer's relationship with Garibaldi improves and she begins to trust him.
12 12 By all means By Any Means Necessary May 11, 1994 Oct 22, 1995 Jim Johnston Kathryn M. Drennan 114
A dock worker is killed on Babylon 5 in an accident with a Narn transport ship. On board was a rare plant that Ambassador G'Kar needs for a religious ceremony. The dock workers union representative, Neeoma Connally, is demanding more money for urgently needed repairs to the docks and better working conditions. The result is an illegal strike, whereupon Earth sends negotiator Orin Zento to the station to end the work stoppage. After failed negotiations, Zento finally obtained an emergency decree that allowed the strike to be broken up by force. A fight breaks out between Garibaldi's security forces and the dock workers, but Sinclair has found a peaceful solution: the emergency decree authorizes him to take whatever action is necessary to end the strike. He forks part of the station's defense budget for the dock workers, thereby settling the dispute and exposing Zento.

Meanwhile, G'Kar has learned that his enemy Londo Mollari is the only one on the station in possession of a corresponding plant; but Londo refuses to give them up. Sinclair finds out about the plant and explains to Londo that it is an intoxicant and that he is not allowed to possess it. He forces Londo to surrender and hands the plant over to G'Kar.

13 13 Visions of horror Signs and Portents May 18, 1994 Oct 29, 1995 Janet Greek J. Michael Straczynski 116
A mysterious man by the name of Morden arrives at the station. He goes to the ambassadors of the great nations and asks them only one question: “What do you want?” Ambassador G'Kar replies that he wants to see all Centauri dead. Morden asks what should happen afterwards, but G'Kar doesn't care while his homeworld is safe. Morden then visits Delenn when suddenly a silver triangle appears on her forehead and Morden darkens. She tells him to leave immediately and says to himself, “You are there.” When Morden asks Londo the same question, Londo reveals that he wants the Centauri Republic to return to its former greatness and a powerful role occupies in the galaxy. Londo turns away, but Morden is delighted with the answer. He later meets Ambassador Kosh, who also tells Murden to leave immediately.

In the meantime, Londo came into possession of the "eye", a long-lost Centauri artifact. He receives a visit from the Centauri Consul Kiro and Lady Ladira, a seer who, upon arrival on Babylon 5, has a vision of the destruction of the station. Kiro wants to bring the artifact to Centauri Prime, but is ambushed on the way to his ship. The kidnappers escape in Kiro's ship by eye when a raider command ship appears at the station and engages the Babylon 5 fighter pilots in a skirmish. The kidnappers dock with the Raiders' ship, which then jumps into hyperspace. Suddenly a black, spider-like spaceship appears and destroys Kiro's ship. Londo thinks the eye is lost. Surprisingly he receives a visit from Morden, who hands him the eye as "a present from friends" whom he does not know yet. Lady Ladira finally explains that her vision is only a possible future that can be averted.

14th 14th In the ring of blood TKO May 25, 1994 Nov 5, 1995 John C. Flinn III Larry DiTillio 119
Garibaldi receives a visit from his old friend Walker Smith. Smith is a boxer and wants to take part in Mutai, a brutal fighting competition. His request is initially rejected because people are not allowed to fight in Mutai according to the rules. However, one of the fighters shows Smith a way: After a fight by Gyor, the master in Mutai, he asks for a challenger - Smith uses the opportunity and Gyor accepts. A little later, both deliver a spectacular fight that ultimately ends in a draw. Gyor pays his respects to Smith and from now on people are allowed to fight in Mutai.

Meanwhile, in the Jewish tradition of a Shiv'a, Ivanova mourns her recently deceased father.

15th 15th The grail Grail July 6, 1994 Nov 12, 1995 Richard Compton Christy Marx 109
Aldous Gajic belongs to an order that has been dedicated to one goal for generations: the search for the Holy Grail. So on Babylon 5 he wants to get in touch with the extraterrestrial ambassadors. Former worker Thomas Jorden, known as Jinxo, is in trouble: he owes gang boss Deuce a lot of money. Deuce is in possession of a Na'ka'leen-Eater, an octopus-like creature that feeds on parts of its victims' brains. Deuce hides the eater in a suit that looks very similar to Ambassador Kosh's and threatens Jinxo to abandon him to the creature if he doesn't pay soon. Jinxo is caught stealing money from Gajic. During the subsequent trial, the judge wants to expel Jinxo from the ward, but Gajic takes him into his care instead. Gajic has so far had no success with the ambassadors in his search. When he wants to visit Ambassador Kosh, Jinxo thinks he is the eater and flees in a panic. Shortly afterwards, Jinxo and Gajic are caught by Deuce's men, but Jinxo is able to flee and notify Garibaldi. A fire fight ensues, with the eater being killed and Gajic severely shot. While dying, he hands over all of his possessions to Jinxo, who promises Gajic to continue the search for the Grail for him.
16 16 The investigation Eyes July 13, 1994 Nov 19, 1995 Jim Johnston Larry DiTillio 122
Colonel Ari Ben Zayn and his assistant Harriman Gray, a telepath, come to the station to test the loyalty of the command staff to Earth. Ben Zayn is extremely harsh and questions all the important decisions that Sinclair has made as Commander of Babylon 5. He announced that all leaders of the station would undergo a telepathic brain scan if they did not cooperate. Ivanova is almost panicked and would rather resign from her position than undergo a scan. Sinclair learns that Ben Zayn was among the last 10 nominees in the Babylon 5 Commander selection, confirming Sinclair's suspicions that the investigation was a personal vendetta. During the subsequent questioning, Ben Zayn accuses Sinclair of a lack of loyalty and takes command of the station himself. Sinclair now insists that Ben Zayn, as a member of the executive staff, be scanned as well. He is beside himself with anger and can be overwhelmed by Gray, who now realizes Ben Zayn's real motives.
17th 17th Reluctant warriors Legacies July 20, 1994 Nov 26, 1995 Bruce Seth Green DC Fontana 115
Branmer, a Minbari warlord, has died. Alyt Neroon and other members of the Minbari warrior caste want to publicly display the body on Babylon 5, but when the coffin is opened, the body suddenly disappears. Neroon is furious and threatens war. Garibaldi opens a full investigation, but initially unsuccessful. Meanwhile, on the ward, a young girl, Alisa, has a "consciousness explosion" - a sudden onset of telepathic abilities during puberty. Talia Winters wants to introduce her to the Psi-Corps, but Ivanova is against it because her mother once did not want to go to the Psi-Corps and was given medication that suppressed her telepathic abilities and ultimately drove her to suicide. Alisa wants to look for alternatives. At first the Narn are interested in her, as they do not have their own telepaths and want to use Alisa for experiments, which she refuses. Finally Delenn makes her the offer to come to Minbar. Alisa sees in Delenn's mind that she is responsible for the disappearance of a corpse. Confronted by Sinclair and Garibaldi with the allegations, Delenn admits to have cremated Branmer because he was born a member of the religious caste and never wanted to be revered as a war hero. Since Delenn is a member of the Gray Council above Neroon, Neroon has to submit. Alisa accepts Delenn's offer and now lives on Minbar.
18th 18th Aliens attack part 1 A Voice in the Wilderness, Part I. July 27, 1994 Dec. 1, 1995 Janet Greek J. Michael Straczynski 120
Seismic activity is observed on the planet Epsilon III, in the orbit of which Babylon 5 is located. A dispatched research ship is hit by a huge energy beam as it approaches the planet and is badly damaged. In addition, an unidentifiable signal is being received from the planet. Meanwhile, Delenn receives a visit from her old teacher and friend Draal. He tells her that he is dissatisfied with his life and suggests that he will not live much longer. Sinclair saw a report on the news of an armed revolt against the Earth government by the residents of the Mars colony. Hundreds of deaths are feared. Suddenly the hologram of an alien appears to him who only says "Help me!" Another research ship is ordered to Epsilon III, which, under heavy fire, discovers a large artificial facility in a ravine on the planet. Meanwhile, Londo has the same appearance as Sinclair before. Finally, Sinclair and Ivanova set off for Epsilon III. You can bypass the automatic defense systems and enter the facility on the planet. There they find a gigantic machine to which the alien is connected, whose hologram was seen several times. He tells them that if he doesn't get help, everyone will die. Sinclair and Ivanova take the alien named Varn to Babylon 5.
19th 19th Aliens attack part 2 A Voice in the Wilderness, Part II Aug 3, 1994 Dec. 1, 1995 Janet Greek J. Michael Straczynski 121
An Earth Alliance destroyer arrives at Babylon 5. The commanding Captain Pierce announces that due to the discovery on Epsilon III, he will take command of Babylon 5. However, Sinclair refuses to do so. Meanwhile, seismic activity on the planet is increasing; it is believed that the big machine is initiating self-destruction. Finally, Draal Varn's hologram appears. It turns out that the big machine needs a new "heart" and after a long time Varn has become too weak for the task. A spaceship of the Varn species appears at the station. The occupation declares the planet their property and tells the people to leave. Pierce doesn't think about it and a fight ensues. Through the holograms, Londo and Draal have found each other and know what to do: Together with Delenn, they kidnap Varn from the Medlab and fly to Epsilon III. There Draal sees his chance for a new meaning in life and with the help of Varn he takes his place in the machine. Finally, Draal holographically calls on all parties to end the fighting, as the planet belongs to no one. The alien ship ignores this and is destroyed by Draal. Pierce is withdrawing, also because the President of Earth has confirmed that Sinclair has full decision-making authority in the sector. Garibaldi asks Delenn why she didn't inform Sinclair of her departure for Epsilon III. She replies that Sinclair would have wanted to take Varn's place, but that his destiny was different.
20th 20th Lost in time Babylon Squared Aug 10, 1994 Dec 3, 1995 Jim Johnston J. Michael Straczynski 118
Four years ago, the Babylon 4 space station disappeared under unexplained circumstances. Suddenly the station reappears and the local commander Major Krantz makes an emergency call. Sinclair and Garibaldi are on their way. Arriving on Babylon 4, Krantz explains that the station drifts uncontrollably through time and the crew experience visions of the past and the future. Sinclair also has an apparition of the destruction of Babylon 5 by unknown attackers. Krantz shows the two of them an alien named Zathras who appeared on the station when it all began. Zathras recognizes Sinclair apparently immediately, but then says "You are not the one". He explains that the station will be needed for a major war to save the galaxy. A man appears in a spacesuit that Zathras describes as "the one". Zathras hands him a "time stabilizer", whereupon the one disappears again. When the station begins to become unstable, the remaining crew disembark. Zathras is trapped by rubble. Sinclair rushes to his aid, but Zathras tells him to leave, as Sinclair still has a goal ahead of him. Shortly afterwards, Babylon 4 disappears again. There the man in the spacesuit takes off his helmet: It is Sinclair, aged by years, who says that he tried to warn her, but everything happened as he remembered it.

In the meantime, Delenn receives an offer from the Gray Council to become its new leader. Delenn refuses because she would have to stay on Babylon 5 to fulfill a prophecy.

21st 21st The healer The Quality of Mercy Aug 17, 1994 Dec 10, 1995 Lorraine Senna Ferrara J. Michael Straczynski 117
Former doctor Laura Rosen runs an illegal medical practice for needy residents on the lowest level of Babylon 5. To do this, she uses an extraterrestrial device that transfers life energy from one living being to another. Dr. Franklin wants to stop this at first, but he learns that Rosen himself is terminally ill and that he wants to do something good in this way. In the meantime, the convicted murderer Karl Mueller manages to escape from custody, but is wounded. He seeks out roses and forces her to heal him. Unnoticed by Mueller, she reverses the process and removes life energy from him until death. She herself is completely healed in the process. Your actions are considered self-defense, but you have to hand the device over to Franklin, who wants to examine it more closely. Finally she leaves the station.

Londo takes advantage of Delenn's absence to familiarize her attaché Lennier with the less formal areas of the station. When he exploited Lennier's probabilistic skills while gambling, it got them both in some trouble.

22nd 22nd Chrysalis Chrysalis Oct 26, 1994 Dec 17, 1995 Janet Greek J. Michael Straczynski 112
A Narn colony in quadrant 37 is a nuisance to the Centauri, but they lack the means to do something about it. Londo later receives a visit from Morden, who offers to solve the problem. Londo should only inform his government that he is personally taking care of quadrant 37. In return, Morden mentions just one small favor he'll ask Londo to do one day. Eventually the colony is destroyed by unknown spaceships, killing thousands of the Narn. Londo is appalled, but Morden points out that Londo's reputation with the Emperor has risen to Centauri Prime. In his quarters, Morden tells two almost invisible beings that Londo is exactly the right person for their plans.

In the meantime, Garibaldi is on the trail of a conspiracy: A dying homeless man spoke of a planned assassination attempt on the President of the Earth. A few detours eventually lead him to a suspect's cargo. There are several jammers in it, which are set to the frequencies of the transfer station at Jupiter's moon Io, where the president is expected to be shortly. As he is about to inform Sinclair, his co-worker Jack shoots him in the back. Garibaldi still makes it to the Medlab, but it's too late: President Luis Santiago is killed in the explosion of his spaceship near Io. Shortly thereafter, Vice President Morgan Clark is sworn in as the new President, who left the spacecraft due to an alleged flu shortly before the explosion.

Meanwhile, Delenn meets with Kosh and announces that she is about to undergo a change. With a self-made device, she spins herself into a cocoon while Lennier watches over her.
