The Bacherswall describes a former Slavic wooden castle on the Nonnenhof peninsula in the Lieps near Neubrandenburg in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . This complex was laid out in the 7th century and had the character of a refuge . The heyday of the castle could be put in the second half of the 8th century based on finds. The name is probably derived from Bacher - an older name for a young male wild boar . In times of war it served as a place of refuge for the people who settled around the lake. With the construction of the four-wheel mill in Neubrandenburg, the Tollensesee and Lieps were dammed by 1.5 to 2.0 meters. As a result, large parts of the complex were flooded in the 13th century.

The total size of the facility was almost 10,000 m², of which 9,200 m² are below today's water level. On the land side, a 20 m wide and 140 m long earth wall with a high palisade fence served as an obstacle. It was no longer possible to determine how high the wall was, as the area was used for a long time as arable land and traces were destroyed. Excavations in the 1980s revealed that there was once a wide moat in front of the wall. There was a settlement near the castle. The complex belonging to the Feldberg castles was abandoned in the early 9th century. The facility was connected to the island of Hanfwerder and via the island of Kietzwerder to Prillwitz by means of wooden bridges . The length of the bridges must have been approximately 250 meters.

The Bacherswall is now inaccessible in the Nonnenhof nature reserve and is subject to nature conservation restrictions. There is no overland route to the castle wall.

There are no written sources or traditions about this castle, but it has a peculiarity. After it was abandoned in the 9th century, the site has apparently been left untouched. The Slavs lived in surrounding villages and castles for another 400 years.

In the vicinity of the Bacherswall, the Slavic sanctuary Rethra is believed to be on islands at the southern end of the Tollensesees or in the Lieps, which was located here in the 11th century.
