The Back River is a river in the east of the Australian state of Tasmania .

geography

The river has its source on the northeast slopes of Stonehurst Sugarloaf in the Buckland Military Training Area , about 58 kilometers northeast of Hobart . From there it flows through unpopulated land first to the southwest around the mountain and then to the south. About six kilometers west of Buckland , on the Tasman Highway (A3), it flows into the Sand River , only about 100 meters before it flows into the Prosser River .
