Bad Earth
Bad Earth is a German science fiction - series , the 45 booklet novels of April 29, 2003 to December 28, 2004 in Bastei appeared. Since it was discontinued as a booklet series, the series has been continued as a hardcover edition by Zaubermond Verlag .
The main author and creator of the series is the German science fiction author Manfred Weinland . Bad Earth was Bastei Verlag's first new series of issues in the space opera genre since Die Terranauten was discontinued in the mid-1980s.
content
In the year 2041 the astronauts of the second Martian expedition around John Cloud move 211 years into the future, where the people of the earth are feared as Erinjij (meaning: scourge of the galaxy ) due to their merciless expansion efforts in the Milky Way . The group comes into the possession of the SESHA , a spaceship of the ancient people of the Forons , which John Cloud calls RUBIKON in memory of the ship of the Mars mission . With this they return to the shielded solar system, where they have to find out that humanity is ruled by the mysterious masters . They also learn that a conflict is smoldering between the CLARON League , an association of many organic peoples, and the Jay'nac , the leaders of inorganic living beings, both of whom also feel threatened by the Erinjij . In the course of her adventurous voyage, the RUBIKON also reaches the Large Magellanic Cloud , the home of the forons , and the crew succeeds in understanding the events in whose vortex they got caught.
Due to the abrupt termination of the series at Bastei, Manfred Weinland was forced to bring the story to a reasonably conclusive end within two novels. In this forced “ showdown ” many arcs of the story remained open. At the same time, however, the possibility was created to insert the sequel to Zaubermond, which had already been decided at that time, relatively seamlessly into the context of the series.
Requirements / manifestations
The first 45 issues of Bad Earth appeared fortnightly in magazine format. At the same time, a book edition was published, the individual volumes of which each contained four slightly edited Bastei notebooks of the series. The edition was discontinued with Volume 7 (Issue 28). In 2007/2008 the edition was continued with the remaining issues in hardcover and was completed by Mohlberg-Verlag . A total of 11 books were published.
Since the end of the series, Bad Earth has been continued in book form as a hardcover edition with new texts in a total of 44 volumes by Zaubermond Verlag .
From December 19, 2017, Bastei Entertainment will publish the original issue series in its entirety in an e-book, the following year all sequels from Zaubermond Verlag, which Uksak Verlag added to its program under the title "RAUMSCHIFF RUBIKON", were available on everyone relevant portals.
