Achim Mehnert (2005)

Achim Mehnert (born November 14, 1961 in Cologne ; † November 7, 2018 there ) was a German writer whose focus was on the science fiction genre. He published mainly in the hardcover area, but also published paperbacks, paperbacks, novels and paperbacks as well as numerous short stories in anthologies, journals and magazines.

Life

Achim Mehnert completed the secondary school leaving certificate , the technical college entrance qualification and an apprenticeship as an industrial clerk. In 2003 he left his civil profession in order to concentrate fully on his work as a freelance writer. Since then he has written for various series and series, as well as his own novels and short stories, some of which have been combined into short story collections. From 2012 he wrote adaptations of the classic comics Tibor and Nick by Hansrudi Wäscher for the publisher Peter Hopf .

In 1982 Achim Mehnert was one of the founding fathers of ColoniaCon, a science fiction convention for fans and authors that continues to this day .

In 2012, Mehnert was awarded the international novel prize “Dark Star 2012” at the 72nd International Comics and Novel Fair in Cologne, in honor of which he was named “Mehnert's Star”.

Achim Mehnert died completely unexpectedly in November 2018, a week before his 57th birthday.
