The Bad Honnef AG - abbreviated BHAG - is a municipal power company with its own network operations. The company looks back on a history that goes back to 1889 - with the establishment of the first waterworks in Bad Honnef. The "Bad Honnef Aktiengesellschaft" (BHAG) was founded in 1948 through the merger of the "Stadtwerke Bad Honnef" and the "Städtische Kurverwaltung".

Its supply area is located in both southern North Rhine-Westphalia and northern Rhineland-Palatinate .

The 11 kilovolt cable network has a total length of around 105 km, the 0.4 kilovolt cable network of around 231 km. The total length of the medium-pressure natural gas network is approx. 211 km, the low-pressure network approx. 510 km. The pipeline network for drinking water is around 244 km long.

Balance sheet and shareholders

In 2005 the balance sheet total was 48.2 million euros, 1.5 million euros were distributed as dividends.

The main shareholder of the stock corporation is the city of Bad Honnef with 50.17%, the Grafenwerth leisure pool holds 46% and the Unkel community of 3.83%.

Of the 2010 profit of 4 million euros, 3.5 million go to the shareholders and 500,000 to the retained earnings.

history

On June 21, 1948, the "Stadtwerke Bad Honnef" and the "Städtische Kurverwaltung" were merged to "Bad Honnef AG". The share capital was 1 million Deutschmarks . The 1940s and 1950s were characterized by renovation work, the removal of war damage and occupation damage, and the construction of basic supply installations. The groundbreaking ceremony for the new waterworks took place on May 30, 1964. In 1968 the Edelhoff mineral spring was developed at the Edelhoff-Stift . In the last quarter of the 20th century, the supply area expanded to its present size and stakes in the “Schwarze Elster” energy supply in Wittichenau in East Saxony were acquired.
