Bagaroua is a department in the region of Tahoua in Niger .

geography

The department is located in the southwest of the country. It extends over the area of ​​the rural municipality of the same name, Bagaroua .

history

The department goes back to the administrative post ( poste administratif ) of Bagaroua, which was established in 1970. In 2011 the administrative post was removed from the Illéla department and raised to the Bagaroua department.

population

According to the 2012 census, the Bagaroua department has 72,293 inhabitants. From 2001 to 2012 the population increased by an average of 3.8% annually (nationwide: 3.9%).
