Baghdad ER is an HBO- produced American documentary film from 2006 about a US Army emergency room in Baghdad . The report was created with the help of the US military. In mid-2005, Jon Alpert and Matthew O'Neill were able to follow the work of the doctors at the 86th emergency hospital for combat troops uncensored for two and a half months .

The finished film is controversial in the US military. While it was first seen as an appreciation of the bravery and willingness to make sacrifices of the US Army, high-ranking officers demonstratively stayed away from the premiere in mid-May 2006 due to the contrary effect. In addition, the US military warns of possible damage to health and veterans of post-traumatic syndromes due to the terrifying images.

In Europe, the report was shown for the first time on July 2, 2006 on RTL .

Awards

The film won four Emmies and was nominated for two more.
