The asakusabashi station ( Jap. 浅草橋駅 , Asakusabashi eki ) is located in the same district in Taitō in Tokyo , Japan . The station is served by the JR East and Toei subway . On the Toei's web spiders, the station is designated A-16 as the Asakusa Line station .

history

On July 1, 1932, the station was opened as a passenger station on the Sōbu line. On June 1, 1949, the station became the property of the Japanese State Railways (JNR). On December 4, 1960, the Tokyo Prefecture Transportation Office opened its Asakusabashi subway for Line 1 underground under the previous station, before it was finally renamed the Asakusa Line on July 1, 1978. On December 1, 1987, the JNR station became the property of JR Higashi-Nihon, which had been privatized. Since November 18, 2001, the Suica has been accepted as electronic tickets at JR train station and since March 18, 2007 the PASMO has been accepted at Toei train station .

Type of construction and tracks

Both JR Higashi-Nihon Station and Toei Station are built as through stations . They each have two platform tracks. At the JR station, two side platforms are approached, while the Toei station has a single central platform .

Surroundings

The Asakusabashi Bridge, from which both the name of the district in which the station is located and the name of the station itself derive, is located 200 m south of the station. The Kanda flows into the Sumida about 300 m south-east of the station .

In 2008, the station was used by an average of 54,347 passengers per day, making it 84th of over 900 on the list of the most frequently used stations of the JR East in 2008. The Toei's Asakusa line was used by an average of 27,207 passengers a day in 2008. The station ranks 10th out of 20 of the most frequently used stations on the Asakusa line.
