The Aumenau station is a station on the Lahn Valley Railway . It is located opposite the village of Aumenau on the banks of the Lahn .

history

Like most of the stations on the Lahntalbahn, the seven-axle station building erected in 1862 is a type construction . The storage sheds were built around 1900. Although the signal box with the mechanical Af signal box located in the west of the railway system was probably not built until 1950, it has the same construction. The entire facility is a listed building . At the western end of the station there used to be the Aw signal box.

The station was primarily used for ore transport. Until 1970 ore was loaded from the Strichen and Lindenberg mines on a mine railway. There was also a high lintel and several tracks to the west of the Af signal box. All tracks and facilities for freight traffic have been removed. The end of the mine track with the bridge's abutment can still be seen.

Since the beginning of the 20th century, there has been almost all restaurants in the station.

traffic

Until December 2011, regional trains operated by Deutsche Bahn AG ran every hour on the Lahntalbahn between Limburg and Gießen , and sometimes on to Alsfeld / Fulda . Since the 2011/2012 timetable change on December 11, 2011, the RB services on this section of the Lahntalbahn have been carried out by Hessische Landesbahn GmbH . Alstom Coradia Lint 41 (DB class 648) railcars are used for this . The DB Regional Express trains (RE 25) pass through the station without stopping. For the RE services, railcars of the type Alstom Coradia Lint 27 and Lint 41 (series 640 and 648) as well as Bombardier Talent (series 643) are used.
