The Bad Gastein train station is a through station on the Tauern train in Bad Gastein in the state of Salzburg and is a listed building.
Platforms
The station has three platforms: the house platform 1 and platforms 2/3, which are separated by a central platform . There are also several through tracks without a platform that are intended for freight trains to pass.
Station building
The station building from the imperial era, which is located in the south of Bad Gastein, was ceremoniously opened in 1905 - like the rest of the station - as part of the construction of the Tauern Railway by Emperor Franz Joseph .

Rail transport
In addition to its appearance, the station is also a rarity in Austria because of its use, as there is almost no local transport in this station. In the off-peak times, a pair of trains (REX 5098/5099) runs between Bad Gastein and Salzburg (the early train continues to Bad Reichenhall ).
Otherwise, only long-distance trains that run between Klagenfurt and Salzburg Hauptbahnhof stop here . The RJ trains are tied through to Vienna Airport . The RJ-train pair 110/111 and EC trains are to Munich or Frankfurt or Dortmund out. Direction Salzburg main station and Klagenfurt main station is available to guests every two hours.
The pair of EN trains on the ( Belgrade -) Zagreb - Villach - Zurich axis also stops in Bad Gastein. However, more night trains run through the station.
Bus transport
Two bus lines in the Gastein Valley region also stop at Bad Gastein train station:
- 550: Sportgastein - Böckstein - Bad Gastein - Bad Hofgastein - Dorfgastein (- Lend / Salzach) - Loifarn - Schwarzach im Pongau - St. Johann im Pongau
- 555: Böckstein - Bad Gastein - Bad Hofgastein
