The Bad Orb station is the station of the city of Bad Orb on the Kinzig Valley Railway in Hessen .
history
The station was opened on July 1, 1868 with the opening of the Wächtersbach - Steinau (road) section of the Kinzig Valley Railway. The Kinzig Valley Railway is part of the former Hessian , then Prussian railway project Frankfurt-Bebra Railway . The original name of the station was Salmünster in 1880, then Salmünster-Soden (still 1928), then Salmünster-Bad Soden (still 1971).
The reception building of the station is now a cultural monument by the Hessian Monument Protection Act .
traffic
The station has a house platform and an island platform. The main platform (platform 1) and platform 2 are only served by the regional express trains on the route Frankfurt Hbf – Hanau Hbf – Wächtersbach – Fulda. Track 3, which is located next to track 2 on the island platform, serves the individual regional trains on the route Frankfurt Hbf – Hanau Hbf – Wächtersbach – Bad Soden-Salmünster.
Today the station is served exclusively by local and regional transport. The ICE and IC trains go through without stopping. The permissible speed on the main tracks is 160 km / h.
