Reitzengeschwenda is a district of Drognitz in the Saalfeld-Rudolstadt district . The fulfilling municipality for Drognitz is the municipality of Kaulsdorf in Thuringia .
Geography and geology
Reitzengeschwenda is located west of Drognitz on a plateau of the southeast Thuringian slate mountains to the left of the Hohenwarte reservoir of the Saale . Due to the high proportion of fine soil and the high humus content, these areas have good soil fertility. From the Hermannsfelsen you have a good view of the country. The place is well connected to road traffic with three connections.
history
The place is a planned Franconian clearing village from the 12th / 13th. Century with settlers from the Kronach and Arnstadt area . The village was first mentioned in a document in 1378 as "Richtingswende". The part of the name "swende" stands for "clearing". The place belonged to the electoral office of Ziegenrück until 1815 and after its assignment, decided at the Congress of Vienna , came to the Prussian district of Ziegenrück , to which the place belonged until 1945.

Townscape
The village has a large hill in the middle. The traditional half-timbered houses with flowers on the renovated facades show their gable side towards the street.
In 1983 the place opened a folklore museum . It shows a plank room, flax and linen chamber, a collection on mining and minerals in the region, a museum barn, model railway system, a sawmill and a representation of the Saale rafting.
In the center of the village is the slate-roofed church with ceiling paintings, double galleries, a baroque pulpit altar, an old organ and an impressive baptismal font.
On January 1, 1997 Reitzengeschwenda was incorporated into Drognitz.
