The Broughty Ferry station is the station in the Broughty Ferry district of the city of Dundee in the council area of the same name . The station was included in the Scottish monument lists in 1985, initially in category B. The upgrade to the highest monument category A took place in 1991.
traffic
The station was opened by the Dundee and Arbroath Railway on the Dundee to Arbroath route on October 6, 1838. This makes it the oldest railway station in Scotland that is still in operation today. Since 1880 the line and station were operated by the Caledonian Railway and North British Railway . Today Broughty Ferry is a local stop for trains between Edinburgh or Glasgow and Aberdeen .
description
The station is located off the A930 in the eastern Dundeer district of Broughty Ferry. An underpass enables the passage between the two platforms of the through station . Two gables protrude on the platform side. All roofs are covered with gray slate. Next to it, a wooden protective roof that rests on ten slender, cast-iron pillars spans the platform. To the right of the train station is a toilet block. The brick building with a hipped roof dates from the late 19th century.
